earlena Bodzin of South-
field and Carolyn
Schreiber of Huntington
Woods were among eight
persons honored this week by
United Way with its annual
Heart of Gold awards for volun-
teers.
Ms. Bodzin was nominated by
the Jewish Home for Aged, where
she serves as a volunteer and is
a past president of its auxiliary.
She is also a docent at the Holo-
caust Memorial Center, serves on
the Sinai Hospital Guild and is
president of Congregation B'nai
Moshe.
Ms. Bodzin is a member of the
board of the Women's Division of
Jewish Federation and is active
with the Detroit Roundtable of
Christians, Jews and Muslims.
Ms. Schreiber was nominated
by the National Council of Jew-
ish Women. She has given week-
ly school tours at the Detroit
Institute of Arts for 25 years, and
has specialized with preschool
groups.

Ms. Schreiber has done simi-
lar work with Orchards Chil-
dren's Services for six years,
checking out potential foster
homes. She also helped establish
Orchards' foster care program.
Others selected for the annu-
al Heart of Gold honors were
Verne Burbridge of Detroit, Bet-
ty Fisher of Bloomfield Hills,
Karen Gay of Southfield, Mar-
jorie Morgan of Fraser, Billy
Rodgers of Detroit, and Robert
