Hezbollah Targets

Jerusalem (JTA) — Israeli fight-
er planes bombed targets of the
Iranian-backed Hezbollah move-
ment in southern Lebanon, the
second straight day of Israeli air
strikes in the region.
In the attack, Israeli planes
struck in the eastern Bekaa Val-
ley, targeting caves used by
Hezbollah fighters to store
weapons and launch attacks
against Israeli positions in the
southern. Lebanon security zone.
The air attack followed raids
by Hezbollah on positions held by
Israel and by the South Lebanon
Army, Israel's ally in the region.
A senior Hezbollah official has
reportedly vowed to step up that
group's actions against Israel in
the coming days.
The only reported Israeli fa-
tality was Sgt. Yotam Shauli, 19,
of Rishon le-Zion, who was killed
after coming in contact with a
booby trap.

Taxi Drivers
Demand Safety

Jerusalem (JTA) — Several
dozen taxi drivers demonstrated
in Jerusalem after the funeral of
a cabby thought to be murdered
by terrorists. The drivers de-
manded that the government pay
for more security measures.
The taxis, with horns honking
and black ribbons tied to their an-
tennas, filed past the prime min-
ister's office. The angry drivers
amassed at the intersection op-
posite the government building.
Rafi Cohen of Jerusalem,
whose Tuesday funeral was at-
tended byhundreds, was the fifth
cabby to be killed in a year. He
was killed on the Jerusalem-
Ma'aleh Adumim highway.
The drivers complained of be-
ing unable to protect themselves
because of insufficient security
measures and legal constraints.

Egypt Bars
`Post' Article

Jerusalem (JTA) — Egypt has
barred distribution of the
Jerusalem Post following publi-
cation of an article that was crit-
ical of several Egyptian officials.
Israel Radio reported that the
newspaper's editor-in-chief,
David Bar-Illan, expressed sur-
prise that a country which has
peaceful relations with Israel
would bar a newspaper because
of an article that appeared in it.
The article criticized Egyptian
Foreign Minister Amre Moussa
and presidential political advis-
er Osama el-Baz for displaying
insensitivity toward Israel.
