Anniversary Service

I

t will be a dual celebration, Friday evening, March 10, when
the brotherhood of Temple Beth El marks Brotherhood Shab-
bat and the beginning of the brotherhood's 75th anniversary
year. The 8 p.m. Shabbat service in the sanctuary will pay trib-
ute to Edward Kingins and his 30 years of service as a mem-
ber of the TBE Choir. Mr. Kingins, the choir's tenor soloist,
also is the director of music at the Fort Street Presbyterian
Church of Detroit and teaches voice privately. He received his
musical education at the American Conservatory of Music,
Heidelberg College and Wayne State University. Edward
Kingins has appeared on stage in Michigan Opera Theatre
productions.
The Brotherhood Shabbat service will be written and con-
ducted by the brotherhood; Earl Remer, brotherhood past
president, will deliver the D'var Torah. The service will be
the first of planned events marking the brotherhood's diamond anniversary. Temple Beth
El's Brotherhood is the oldest in the state of Michigan and one of the five oldest in the nation.

T

he Einstein Luncheon Forum of the
ZOA will meet Tuesday, Feb. 28, at
noon at the Zionist Cultural Center
in Southfield.
Guest speaker will be Rabbi Joshua L.
Bennett of Temple Israel who will discuss
`The Reform Movement's Response to the
Mideast Peace Process." Rabbi Bennett
was ordained at the Hebrew Union Col-
lege-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincin-
nati in 1989. He also holds a degree of
bachelor of science in psychology from the
University of Illinois. He served as rab-
binic adviser to the North American Fed-
eration of Temple Youth, was director of
UAHC high school youth programs. Rab-
bi Bennett also has served as assistant di-
rector and program director at the UAHC
Goldman Union Camp Institute in
Zionsville, Ind.

uze Orman will speak at the Jimmy
Prentis Morris Jewish Community
Center Sunday, March 5, at 7 p.m.
She will talk about her new book, You've
Earned It, Don't Lose It: Mistakes You
Can't Afford to Make When Your Retire,
which gives useful tips on how to insure
a trouble-free retirement. After her talk,
she will be available for answering ques-
tions from the audience, as well as book
signing. This event is free of charge.
Suze Orman is a financial expert and Suze Orman
a consumer activist who has counselled over 2,000 people on how to safe-
guard their assets and avoid financial ruin. She has previously been em-
ployed by Merrill Lynch and Prudential Bache.. Currently she heads her
own financial group, the Suze Orman Financial Group, which specializes in
retirement planning for individuals and corporations.
Ms. Orman dedicates most of her time to educating the senior communi-
ty on how to become financially independent. Her expertise has been uti-
lized by television, radio, and the press.

Torah Partners At Yeshiva

eshiva Beth Yehuda has begun to offer one-on-one
study sessions on a wide range of Torah study top-
ics. The program is open to men and women of all
backgrounds and levels ofJewish knowledge. Participants
are matched with an experienced study partner. Moshe
Lichtenstein and Phil Jacobs co-chair the series.
This Partners in Torah program meets weekly, Tues-
day nights, from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Yeshiva Beth Yehuda
Study Hall, 15751 W.Lincoln Drive (10Y2Mile) in South-
field, just west of Greenfield.
Pre-registration is required. There is no cost or regis-
tration fee.
