guy. What a funny guy. Looking
for a woman. Must be breathing."
The youngest of four children,
Mr. Dell has a history in stand-
up comedy. ("It's that starving-
for-attention thing," he says.) His
debut came at Wayne State Uni-
versity, where, atop cafeteria ta-
bles, he railed against school
cuisine. He graduated to open-
mike nights around town.
The Windsor-born jokester (his
family moved to Detroit "during
the riots, for the riots. Canada
gets boring ...") lays claim to a se-
rious side, a side he shares with
a handful of close friends only.
Mr. Dell is a soon-to-be Hunt-
ington Woods resident (who cur-
rently lives in one of his Oak
Park rental houses). He describes
himself as homeless, but upbeat.
True, he'd like to ditch his single
status. But this SJM won't let fly-
ing solo drag him down.
"I try to maintain a level of
hope," he says "that when the
right person comes along, it's
going to work."
And, who knows? Mr. Dell's
"Ms. Right" could be waiting
around the corner, just down the
street, along the highway —
maybe on a billboard.

Mr. Dell says he has absolutely
no expectations for these road-
side set-ups. The letters, he says,
were great and really flattering.
One woman, who learned about
the billboard over CNN, even
wrote in from New Jersey. But,
truthfully? Mr. Dell thinks his
beschert, or meant to be, has yet
to show.
He would like to marry and
raise a family someday. As the
son of Holocaust survivors, he
wants to wed within the faith.
For now, Mr. Dell is taking sin-
glehood in stride.
Work keeps him busy. He sells
orthopedic implants and often ad-.
vises doctors during surgery. The
job gets stressful, but Mr. Dell
loves it. On the side, he runs a
real estate investment business.
"I don't really date that often
because I work so much," he says.
"I need someone who will get me
out of the work mode so go out
more."
At some point, this hater of
small personal ads just might
work up the nerve to place one of
his own. He'd draft something
simple and straightforward.
Something, he jokes, like:
"SJM, 35. Help Me."
Or better yet: "SJM, 35, nice
guy, funny guy, a really great
