You could lose things
like extra weight. High
blood pressure. And high
blood cholesterol levels.
The very things that con-
tribute to heart attack and
stroke.
All you have to do is in-
vest wisely at the super-
market.
Buy more in the fresh
produce, pasta, breads
and cereals sections. And
purchase fish, poultry and
lean meats instead of fatty
or processed meats.
Switch to low-fat dairy
products and margarine.
And check the nutritional
listings on food labels.
In short, be selective
about how you play this
market. Because no mat-
ter how much you lose,
you've got 'a lot to win.

into these mice accelerated the
appearance of their diabetes,
whereas increasing this dose to
15 to 20 million cells had no ac-
celerative effect. In fact, 80 per-
cent of the animals receiving the
active cells spontaneously recov-
ered and never developed the di-
abetes that normally occurs later
in life in the strain of mice.
At present, the collaborative
group is trying to flesh out their
skeleton model to provide new in-
sights. For example, they hope to
include various regulatory cells
as separate entries in their mod-
el, rather than lump them to-
gether under one broad class as
is now done. They are also look-
ing at the various immune sys-
tem regulatory proteins, such as
IRN-gamma or IL-2, and trying
to learn about their effects on au-
toimmunity and, perhaps, how
they may be used to cure au-
toimmune disease.
Several years ago, Professor
Cohen and his team were the first
to show the effectiveness of T-cell
vaccines on animal models of mul-
tiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthri-
tis, and juvenile diabetes. El

Students Mourn
Friends' Deaths

Jerusalem (JTA) — Students at
Jerusalem's largest high school
are keenly aware of the cost, in
human lives, of their govern-
ment's attempts to push ahead
with the peace process.
Six graduates of the Rene
Cassin High School have died
since last July while on military
duty.
Two of them were killed in the
Jan. 22 double suicide bombing
at Beit Lid Junction near Ne-
tanya that claimed the lives of 21
Israelis, all but one of them sol-
diers.
Another graduate is currently
in the hospital after being criti-
cally wounded during a clash in
southern Lebanon.
Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin
addressed the school's students
and urged them to have faith in
the peace process.
"We have known the pain of
terror before," Mr. Rabin said.
"Only now, there is hope for
peace as well. I am willing to live
with the contradiction — of the
pain of terror on the one hand
and the chance for peace on the
other."
Mr. Rabin used the speech to
defend the continuation of the
peace process, despite growing
misgivings among Israelis fol-
lowing a wave of terrorist bomb-
ings by Moslem fundamentalists.
Recent newspaper polls have
indicated that 50 percent of Is-
raelis favor suspending talks with
the Palestinians because of the
ongoing series of terror attacks.
