heavyweight wrestler JEREMY
LEWIN pinned his opponent in
26 seconds as he put the finish-
ing touches on the Falcons' 43-16
win over Waterford Mott on Feb.

High School volleyball team de-
feat Southfield-Lathrup 15-9, 15-
11 on Feb. 2. The win gave the
Bears a perfect 6-0 record in Di-
vision IV of the Oakland Activi-
ties Association with four division
matches to go.

In Groves' 50-18 victory over
Southfield-Lathrup on the same
night, the Falcons' STEVE SI-
MON was an easy 15-0 victor at
100 pounds.
The triumphs over Brandon
and Lathrup gave Groves a 13-2
overall record and a final 5-0
mark in Division III of the Oak-
land Activities Association. It's
Groves' first league wrestling ti-
tle in 18 years.

DAVID NACHMAN had 19

points, 19 rebounds and nine
blocked shots, leading the Bloom-
field Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood
boys basketball team to a 74-71
upset of state-ranked Harper
Woods Lutheran East on Feb. 3.
The victory gave the Cranes a
6-5 overall record and a 4-2 mark
in the Metro Conference. Luther-
an East slipped to 11-3 overall.

The Bloomfield Hills Andover
High School boys basketball team
saw two consecutive games come
down to the final shot.
The Barons suffered a 66-65
loss to Hazel Park on Jan. 27
when the Vikings hit a three-
pointer at the buzzer, but BRAD
TRUDING'S. triple at the buzzer
beat Waterford Kettering 57-56
on Jan. 31.
Truding, a sophomore guard,
had 15 points and nine assists in
the game. JEFF JACOB led An-
dover with 16 points.
Jacob fired home 24 points —
including a 7-of-7 performance at
the foul line — in the Barons' 78-
71 loss to Ortonville-Brandon on
Feb. 3. Andover scored 33 points
in the fourth quarter, but the
Barons couldn't overcome a 25-
point third-period deficit.

nastics team's 127.7 to 112.3 vic-
tory over Royal Oak Dondero on
Jan. 30.

Berkley's Emily Sills was a triple-
winner in a recent meet.

Sills finished first in floor ex-
ercise (8.75), beam (8.55) and
bars (8.35) and she tied for sec-
ond in vault (8.0). Durante was
second in beam (8.40), she tied
for second in floor exercise (8.40)
and she was third in bars (7.65).
In Berkley's 125.05 to 123.95
win over Royal Oak Kimball on
Feb. 1, Durante was first in vault
(8.3) and third in beam (8.15) and
floor exercise (8.0).
Those two wins gave the Bears
a 3-0 record in Division III of the
OAA.

MEAGAN PITT was good on

15-of-18 hits and she had eight
kills as she helped the Berkley

leading scorer in a game for the
Berkley High School boys bas-
ketball team.
Kaczander tallied 15 points,
hitting all six of his free throws,
but it wasn't enough as the Bears
dropped a 52-46 decision to Fer-
ndale on Feb. 3.

ADAM ZUCKERMAN had

three assists for the Bloomfield
Hills Andover High School hock-
ey team in a 44 tie with Ann Ar-
bor Huron on Jan. 28.
The Andover goals were scored
by JORDAN LEVIN, RYAN
TRACHT and DAVID EP-
STEIN. Levin had two goals.
