Panel Discusses
Media Influence

Three panelists will lend their
personal and professional per-
spectives on "The Influence of the
Media on the Political Process"
at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22
in the Max M. Fisher Building.
Speaking at the event, spon-
sored by the Young Adult Divi-
sion of the Jewish Federation,
will be Mort Meisner, WJBK TV-
2 news director; Steve Mitchell,
chairman of Mitchell Research &
Communications, Inc. a public re-
lations, political consulting and
polling firm; and Bill Brodhead,
a former member of the U.S.
House of Representatives from
1974-1982.
Each will discuss his views of
the impact that media coverage
has on elections, the right of the
public to know about a candidate,
and media's possible bias toward
a particular political candidate.
There is no charge. A dessert
reception will be held after the
event. Reservations are required
by Feb. 15.
The Jewish Federation's
Young Adult Division provided
political awareness, social, cul-
tural, and community outreach
activities for single and married
Jewish young adults throughout
the tri-county area.

wish to attend the United Jew-
ish Appeal's Midwest Regional
Conference in Ks asas City, Mo.,
March 31-April 2.
The conference will examine
the role of Jews in the political
process and the current rela-
tionship between Israel and the
Diaspora. There also will be dis-
cussions on the meaning of being
Jewish, relationships, and trans-
mitting Jewish values to children.
There is a fee for the trip. A
