JWV Host
`Brotherhood'

The Jewish War Veterans, De-
partment of Michigan will host
Brotherhood 1995 on Tuesday,
Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the JWV
Memorial Home. Past Depart-
ment Commander Jack Schwartz
will serve as chairman and mod-
erator for the evening.
The program will include com-
munity leaders, Paul Borman,
federal judge; David Paige, pres-
ident of the Jewish Federation;
Pastor Michael Panich, with a
question and answer period fol-
lowing. Following the program,
refreshments will be served by
the Jewish War Veterans Ladies
Auxiliary.

Machon Plans
Study Programs

Machon L'Torah will open the
winter semester of JudaiCollege
educational program on Monday,
Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. Rabbi Avraham
Jacobovitz, director of Machon,
will give a lecture on "The Fam-
ily Health Care Plan: Shabbat;
Utilizing weekends for therapy
of mind, heart and body." Re-
freshments will be served. The
program will be held at Machon.
The JudaiCollege program
which was established in 1986 is
designed to accommodate the ed-
ucational needs of our local Jew-
ish community. No previous
Jewish educational background
is required for any of the classes.
This Machon service is free of
charge. Reservations are recom-
mended.
Machon L'Torah also will hold
an educational lunchtime con-
ference at Henry Ford Hospital
on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 11:45
a.m. Rabbi Jacobovitz will lead a
discussion on "Economics and
God." The program will be host-
ed by Dr. Barry Levine and Dr.
Steve Levine and will include a
deli lunch. There is a charge. For

Machon will hold a five-week
crash course in basic Hebrew.
This series is the second of two
lead by Jeff Perlstein. It will be
held every Wednesday night at
Machon 7:30 p.m. starting on
Feb. 15. For information and

The activities for the evening
include swimming, basketball,
volleyball, and a movie and
snack. Breakfast will be served
in the morning. This program is
open to Teen Connection mem-
bers and first-time guests. If a
paid member of TC brings a guest
who joins, both are admitted free.

Alef Bet,
Magic Program

Congregation Beth Shalom, will
host "Alef Bet Magic," a program
for pre-schoolers, kindergartners
and their parents on Sunday,
Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. - noon at the
synagogue. The program will fea-
ture free family fun, music,
hands on activities and refresh-
ments.

by Jewish Experience for Fami-

Nutrition
Program

The Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah will have an evening
for single women, ages 40-65, on
Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at
Hadassah House, 5030 Orchard
Lake Rd., West Bloomfield. The
guest speaker will be Lisa Marie
Supkee, a registered nurse at
William Beaumont Hospital, who
will speak on good nutrition and
healthier days in the '90s .
Refreshments will be served.
There is no charge for the
evening.

Capital Trip
For Hadassah

The Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah will host a trip to
Washington, D.C., for a day on
the hill and visit to the U.S.
Holocaust Memorial Museum on
March 27 and 28. The group will
travel by commercial airlines
and will visit the Pentagon, the
State Department, the Israeli
Embassy, Capitol Hill and the
U.S. Holocaust Memorial Mu-
seum.
