FEBR U ARY

Rock sensations R.E.M. with spe-
cial guest Luscius Jackson will
perform at the Palace on Tues-
day, June 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets are
on sale; call (810) 645-6666.
The quartet, consisting of drum-
mer Bill Berry, lead guitarist
Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills
and lead vocalist Michael Stipe,
formed R.E.M. in the college town
of Athens, Ga., in 1980. The band
honed their musical and song-
writing skills by playing in small
clubs and pizza parlors, but as
their career progressed and their
popularity spread, R.E.M. be-
came a featured act in larger rock
clubs throughout the Southeast.
