Their com- pany was called Payless Shoe Source. During the war, Mr. Pozez would at times receive letters from his family. "My mother told me not to worry, that everything was all right," he said. "Of course, all the mail was censored at the time." Then the letters stopped. Mr. Pozez realized his family most likely had been murdered by the Nazis, but he could not know for certain until he saw the list. In addition to using the list for discovering his own past, Mr. Pozez has donated copies to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Muse- um in Washington, D.C., and to Yad Vashem in Israel. Mr. Berry gave a copy to the Holocaust Memorial Center in West Bloom- field. As part of his research into his history, Mr. Pozez has traveled back to Brest, the town where he spent his youth. He managed to find his old high school, but the house where he lived has been torn down, replaced by a tele- phone company building. "It's very difficult to go back," he said. "Nobody is there any- more." ❑ Event At Adat Shalom AVROHOM PLOTNIK, Owner Complete Line of Religions Artkles Wholesale and Retail 21790 W. 11 Mile Road • Smithfield • Harvard Row • 356-6080 NOW OPEN WEDNESDAY NIGHTS UNTIL 7:30 HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC 4 seasons c. 1. 4 fireplace & barbecue Inc. et,ernweatfAry Choose From Over 200 Of The Finest Home & Villa Rentals!
