he says. "Sometimes it's person-
al, sometimes it's abstract — the
whole struggle between good and
evil."

baum adds. "Mike is passionate-
ly devoted to these cases." He
not only knows the history, he
has a profound grasp on what it
means that millions of men,
women and children perished at
the hands of the Nazis. "He has
seen it, heard it and he knows
what it means."

is always looking for ways
to help students learn.
An opportunity arose last No-
vember, when Dr. Cotman went
on an Israel-Education Study
Mission sponsored by the Amer-
ican Youth Policy Forum, a non-
profit education organization
aimed at getting policy makers
out from behind their desks and
into the field, according to its di-
rector Samuel Halprin.
Congressional staff members
and policy makers comprised the
majority of the participants, all
of whom received a firsthand look
at Israeli education and an op-
portunity to meet with Israeli ex-
