BRIDAL BEAUTY
BY SHARON ACHAICZ
While practice makes perfect for a bride who
wants to do her own makeup and hair, it's
also a great idea to hire hair and makeup styl-
ists for the wedding day, since you want to
look your best.
Whether you do it yourself or hire a pro,
here are some wedding days do's and don'ts.

Experts agree there are a few basic beau-
ty rules a bride should follow when choos-
ing makeup for her wedding day: Select
cosmetics that enhance the undertones in
your skin; keep in mind the time of day
you're getting married; make sure the look
suits you by practicing in advance.
The best place to begin is by learning
which color family best flatters your com-
plexion. Try covering your head with a white
cloth and looking at your makeup-free face
while draping yourself in various color fab-
rics. If you look best in shades such as pinks
or jewel tones, your complexion is cool; a
bride who looks best in yellow-based tones
such as coral, peach, turquoise or bright green
is considered warm.
Select foundation, blush, lip and eye col-
or based on your complexion type — near-
ly every makeup line divides its products for
cool or warm complexions.

For a daytime wedding, make sure make-
up colors are applied with a light hand, yet
have more punch and depth than the shades
you usually wear so they're not washed out
in photos. When applying blush, for exam-
ple, use two coordinating shades.
An evening bride's makeup should be
dramatic and glamorous. Because she will
be surrounded by dim lighting, her make-
up needs the impact of deeper tones and
brighter shades. For example, add zip to a
favorite lipstick shade by applying it first,
then topping with a deeper shade in the
same color range.
To help makeup last longer, tear-proof
your eye makeup by using waterproof mas-
cara. To promote long-lasting lip color, line
lips and fill in with pencil, then blot with
powder.
Fill in with lipstick, then blot with tissue.
Minimize shine by carrying a powder
compact, linen blotting paper or a clean
powder puff to use every time you pose for
pictures.
