a pri v ate glimpse into the Friedman-Heller wedding

If she had her way about it, Tamara Friedman would

say her daughter's wedding was the wedding of 1994.

ip riedman, owner of the well-known
Tamara's Institut de Beaute locat-
ed on Northwestern Highway, says
planning her daughter Gabby's wed-
ding was anything but easy.
Gabby Friedman, 25, and Ben
Heller, 26, were married on July 30, 1994 at the Birm-
ingham Country Club in front of 180 guests.
"First they wanted to elope; then they were go-
ing to get married in Europe; then it was barefoot at
sunset in Hawaii," Tamara Friedman laughs. "Then
it was Switzerland in the mountains. It was five
months before the wedding and Gabby decided she
wanted to have it here. I could have killed her.
"Where in the world do you find someplace five
months before?
"People have these places booked years in ad-
vance.
Luckily, Tamara said, she was able to book a date
at the Birmingham Country Club.
Once the location was chosen, the Friedmans be-
gan the endless task of preparing for that one spe-
cial day.
