NEW ISRAEL FUND received
an "A" rating for accountability
in the American Institute of Phil-
anthropy's (AIP) most recent
Charity Rating Guide.
Out of eight Jewish and Is-
raeli-oriented organizations in-
cluded in the guide, the New
Israel Fund received the best
grade for allocating money to-
ward grants and direct program
expenses instead of administra-
tive and fund-raising expenses.
It also was the best at spend-
ing the least amount of money to
raise funds.
The AIP is a non-profit orga-
nization established in 1992
which serves as a watchdog over
private charities. The New Israel
Fund, based in Washington, D.C.,
is an international partnership
working to strengthen democra-
cy in Israel.
Since 1979, the fund has pro-
vided financial and technical as-
sistance to more than 170
non-profit organizations in Israel
which are working to protect hu-
man and civil rights, advance the
status of women, foster coexis-
tence between Jewish and Arab
Israelis, promote pluralism and
tolerance, and bridge gaps be-
tween the haves and have-nots
in Israeli society.
For a copy of the Charity Rat-
ing Guide, write to the AIP at
4579 Laclede Avenue, Suite 136,
