Planning Event

/2 A kindergarten informational
breakfast will be held at Temple
Emanu-El Nursery School on
Wednesday, Feb. 1, beginning at
8:30 a.m.
Parents will have an opportu-
nity to meet the kindergarten
teachers and to learn about cur-
riculum programming for the
1995-96 school year. The temple
offers a regular, licensed acade-
mic kindergarten and enrich-
ment kindergarten, with both full
and half-day options available.
The academic kindergarten
has an 8 to 1 staff-child ratio and
provides a great deal of individ-
ual attention in a challenging
curriculum. The enrichment
kindergarten includes science,
computers, art and cooking.

Kol Ami Cites
Its Volunteers

On Friday, Feb. 3, Temple Kol
Ami will observe Volunteer Shab-
bat at 8p.m. to thank volunteers
who assist in activities through
the temple. Paul Groffsky, im-
mediate past president of Temple
Kol Ami, will be named as Vol-
unteer of the Year. The speaker
will be Dr. Howard Green, who
served as the third president of
the temple. An oneg Shabbat
following services will honor all
volunteers.

Rabbi Wine
Lectures

On Monday, Jan. 30, at 8:30 p.m.,
Rabbi Sherwin Wine of the Bir-
mingham Temple will review the
third of three books on the theme,
"Controversial Books/Controver-
sial Issues." Sex In America by
Robert Michael will be discussed.
There is a fee.
Rabbi Wine will discuss the
philosophy and programs of the
Birmingham Temple and of
Humanistic Judaism on Wednes-
day, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the
Temple library. For information
call the Temple office, 477-1410.

Special Shabbat
For Loan Unit

The annual observance of He-
brew Free Loan Sabbath will
' take place on Shabbat Mishpa-
tim, Jan. 27-28. Synagogues
throughout the United States
and Canada are expected to mark
this occasion established by the
Association of Hebrew Free
Loans (AHFL).
