At The JCC

Dr. Daniel Levine will discuss
"The Literate Jew; What Do We
Have to Know" Jan. 25 at 7:30
a.m. and noon in the Max M.
Fisher Building.
Dr. Levine will explore various
issues the Jewish people are fac-
ing today at this event sponsored
by the Community Outreach and
Involvement Department of the
Jewish Federation of Metropoli-
tan Detroit and the Melitz Plan-
ning Committee.
Dr. Levine is the vice-chair-
man of the Melitz Centers.

The Flint Jewish Federation
and the Jewish Community Re-
lations Committee will host the
first of three visiting-scholar lec-
tures. Dr. Daniel Levine will
speak Jan. 23 at Temple Beth El,

topic will be "The Literate Jew:
What Does She/He Have to
Know?"

troit. Its mission is to provide op-

three books on the theme Con-
troversial Books/Controversial
Issues. He will discuss In Defense
of Elitism by W. Henry. A dis-

Parenting Center
Offers Classes

Healthy Moms, Happy Babies is
an exercise class for moms and
babies up to one year of age Tues-
day, 10-11 a.m., with Facilitator
Laurie Goldstein at the Apple-
baum Parenting Center. Babysit-
ting is available by reservation.

Maintaining Your Mensch
Making Skills is an ongoing op-
portunity for parents to problem
solve together. This class is for
parents who have completed a
S.T.E.P.-Systematic Training for
Effective Parenting class. This
class will meet a once a month on
the second Wednesday morning
of the month from 9:15-10:45 for
the remainder school year. Join

Mensch Making—S.T.E.P. Sys-
tematic Training for Effective
Parenting helps to understand
why children misbehave and
gives specific techniques to help
