A three-part lecture series start-
ing next week will introduce
Michigan Miracle Mission II par-
ticipants to the history and cul-
ture of Israel.
Three scholars from the Melitz
Centers for Jewish-Zionist Edu-
cation in Israel will be in Detroit
to address the meetings, spon-
sored by the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit.
Dr. Daniel Levine, vice-chair-
man of Melitz, will speak Jan. 24
and 25 on "Israel and Jewish His-
tory." Daniel Rossing, director of
the Melitz Center for Christian
Encounter with Israel, will speak
March 1 and 2 on "Israel Among
the Nations." Melitz founder,
president and CEO Avraham In-
feld will discuss "Israel and You"
in his address March 27 and 28.
Beginning in Eilat — the
Rivera of the Middle East — the
mission will wind north through
the Negev to home base in
Jerusalem. Luxury tour buses
will take mission participants to
Tiberias on Lake Kinneret and to
museums, historical sites, in-
dustrial and agricultural spots,
archeological digs, Tel Aviv and
Detroit's Partnership 2000 region
of the Central Galilee.

UJA Conference
Set For Spring

Married and single young adults,
22-45, are invited to attend a
meeting about the United Jew-
ish Appeal's Midwest Regional
Conference in Kansas City, Mo.,
March 31-April 2, at 7:30 p.m.,
Jan. 26 in the Max M. Fisher
Building.
The conference aims to en-
lighten and entertain while pro-
viding a forum to strengthen the
young leadership of tomorrow.
Some of the issues to be exam-
ined during the conference are:
learning about Judaism, finding
a Jewish mate, parenthood, the
relationship between Israel and
the Diaspora as well as the rela-
tionship between Jews and Chris-
tians.
Visits from Rabbi Irwin Kula,
director of education at CLAL
(the national Jewish Center for
Learning and Leadership) and
lunch with members of the Unit-
ed States Congress are just some
of the other highlights planned
for the mission.
