Temple Emanu-El, Congregation
Shir Tikvah and Temple Kol
Ami, in conjunction with Jewish
Experiences for Families (JEFF)
and the Agency for Jewish Edu-
cation (AJE), will host a series of
pilot programs for high school
sophomores and juniors, as well
as their parents, who are mem-
bers of the respective congrega-
tions.
The program, titled TAP
(Teens and Parents), will provide
the participants with an oppor-
tunity to improve familial com-
munication by discussing issues
relevant to teens and parents, in
a Jewish context. They will begin
with an activity such as a skit,
game or panel discussion. Facil-
itators will then lead separate
parent and teen discussion
groups, followed by a whole group
discussion and wrap-up.
The first event for Temple
Emanu-El parents and teens will
be Feb. 6 at the temple, followed
by a second meeting March 7.
Parents and teens in Congrega-
tion Shir Tikvah and Temple Kol
Ami can attend Jan. 23 at Tem-
ple Kol Ami, and Feb. 23 at the
Agency for Jewish Education. All
programs will run from 6:45 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m., except for the Feb.
23 meeting, which will begin at
6:30 p.m. The theme for the first
sessions will be "The Times They
Are A- Changing Generational
Issues" and the second session
will focus on anti-Semitism.
Teen participants and their
parents are invited to attend a
special Parent-Teen Shabbat re-
treat at Camp Tamarack March
24-26 as a culmination to the
TAP series. The theme for this
weekend will be "Success." There
will be a fee with a subsidy from
the Fresh Air Society. For infor-
mation, call Mike Mellen or Ju-
lia Greenblatt, (810) 354-1050.
