Rabbi Leads
Talmud Study

Rabbi Daniel Nevins will present
"An Introduction to the Talmud"
in this month's continuation of
Adat Shalom Synagogue's Beit
Midrash series. Two options are
offered: Sunday mornings over
coffee from 9:30-10:45 a.m., or
Mondays with lunch from noon-
1:15 p.m.
Rabbi Nevins uses an interac-
tive learning format and teaches
in the traditional chavruta style,
where participants read selec-
tions to each other. The programs
will focus on different topics each
week. No prior Hebrew knowl-
edge is necessary.
The Sunday morning sessions
will begin on Jan. 29, continuing
on Feb. 5, 26, March 5, 12, 26 and
April 2. The Monday programs
will take place Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30,
Feb. 6, 20 and a final session.
The Beit Midrash programs
are open to the community at no
charge. The Steinsaltz Edition,
Volume I (Bava Metzia, Part 1)
will be the primary text.
An optional lunch can be pro-
vided at a charge per person for
the Monday sessions. Lunch
reservations must be received by
the Thursday preceding each
Monday session. To respond and
