Dedication
Of Art Work

At Shabbat services on Jan. 6,
Temple Kol Ami will dedicate the
oil painting Toramantel, a recent
gift to the congregation from
Myrie and Richard Leland. The
painting is the work of Spanish
Jewish artist Ana Lentsch. It is
from the artist's 1991 exhibition
"Homage to Eretz Israel," which
was inspired by her visits to Is-
rael, and depicts a Torah scroll
and its mantel.
Rabbi Norman T. Roman will
speak about the artist's mystical
vision, and President Cecilia J.
Lakin will accept the painting
from Mrs. and Mrs. Leland, on
behalf of the congregation. Ser-
vices begin at 8 p.m.

HEARING INSTRUMENTS
GET EVEN SMALLER

Those who thought that in-the-
ear (ITE) hearing instruments were
small may be amazed by the new-
er completely-in-the-canal (CIC)
hearing instruments.As their name
suggests, CIC instruments are typ-
ically placed 1 to 2 millimeters in-
side the entrance of the ear canal.
Not only does this placement offer
the benefit of greater cosmetic ap-
pearance, but it also provides sev-
eral major acoustic advantages. For
one, it reduces or eliminates the
echoing, unnatural sound of the
user's own voice (known as the oc-
clusion effect). It also allows the in-
strument to operate with lower
acoustic power, thereby improving
sound quality. CIC instruments en-
able users to localize sound better
by taking advantage of their outer
ears' natural ability in this respect.
The technology that is used to

make the completely-in-the-canal
hearing aids is truly amazing. At
CRUZ HEARING AID SERVICE, we
will show you that these tiny, cus-
tom made electronic instruments
are comfortable to wear, incon-
spicuous, and most important, can
help people overcome hearing dif-
ficulties. Please call us at 424-8450.
We are conveniently located at
18899 W. 12 Mile Rd., in Lathrup
Village. We will also visit your home
or nursing home if you are unable
to come to our office. Assistive lis-
tening devices are also available at
our office and telephone amplifiers
and infa-red systems are always in
stock. Others, like alarm pillow
brators or telephone strobe lights:,
can be ordered and received with-
in two weeks.
P.S. CIC instruments belong to
a category of deep canal instru-
ments that also includes peritym-
panic instruments.
