WHAT'S ALL THE
NOISE ABOUT?
Anyone who is not already
familiar with the statistics may be
quite surprised to learn just how
widespread hearing loss is in this
country. According to the National
Institutes of Health, about ten per-
cent of the American population
has some form of hearing im-
pairment that inhibits their ability
to understand speech and con-
duct a normal conversation. Hear-
ing experts hasten to point out that
at least 10 million of the estimated
28 million Americans with hear-
ing loss experience their dimin-
ished hearing ability as a result of
exposure to excessive noise.
These numbers seem to point out
that, for many of us, hearing loss
is preventable simply by taking the
necessary precautions to limit
exposure to noise.
If you are in a situation that
exposes you to loud noises, it is
important to protect your hearing.
Come in and see us at CRUZ
HEARING AID SERVICE, and our
certified audiologist can perform
testing and evaluate your current
hearing condition and recom-
mend appropriate action. Your
hearing is precious to you, and
we want to help. Come in and see
us at 18899 W. 12 Mile Rd., in
Lathrup Village, and our phone
number is 424-8450. Are you
going away for the winter, or even
for a vacation? Make sure you
have your hearing aid inspected
before you leave!
P.S. According to the National
Institutes of Health, Americans
are exposed to excess noise at
home and at play, as well as at
work.
