BBYO Plans
Convention
Planning for BBYO's regional
Convention is in full swing. the
theme, BBYO's Great Unknown,
will be seen on T-shirts,
sweartshirts, banners and other
creations.
Highlight events are a bowl-
ing tournament and Messy
Dance at Drakeshire Lanes, a
talent show to be held at Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek and a
dressy dance at Congregation
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses.
New programs include a swim
meet, an extemporaneous writ-
ing competition and a chapter
problem solving workshop.
All BBYO members are invit-
ed to attend the convention. For

Teens Study
In Israel
Eleven 10th and 11th grade
teens have been selected to rep-
resent the Detroit Jewish com-
munity in Project Discovery, a
semester-in-Israel program spon-
sored by the Michigan/Israel
Connection.
Jaime Berman, Jamie Bor-
lack, Melissa Bronstein, Chan-
it and Ari Cohen, Adam
Goodman, Bree Hoptman, Jef-
frey Horowitz, Jeremie Kass,
Miriam Lewis and Laura Walk-
er will join students from around
the world to study Judaism, He-
brew, geography, and history
while earning credits towards
their American high school
course work.

Shir Shalom
Tot Shabbat
On Dec. 17, Temple Shir Shalom
will host special family Shabbat
service and pot luck brunch. The
service will begin at 11 a.m. and
is geared for children (toddlers
through age nine.
Under the direction of Fern
Young, the pre-kindergarten and
kindergarten classes will present
a program about temple symbols
as part of the service. Call the
