Immigration Up
From Last Month

New York (JTA) — The emigra-
tion of Jews from the former So-
viet Union was up last month
over the preceding month, ac-
cording to figures provided by the
National Conference on Soviet
Jewry.
-c According to the group's re-
search bureau, 7,367 Jews from
the former Soviet Union arrived
in Israel in November, compared
to 6,855 who went to Israel the
month before.
An additional 2,494 Jews from
the former Soviet Union arrived
in the United States in Novem-
ber, compared to 2,214 who ar-
_n rived here in October.
---- The figures bring the total
number of immigrants from the
former Soviet Union through No-
vember to 59,552 to Israel and
some 30,000 to the United States,
said Mark Levin, executive di-
rector of the National Conference.
A steady increase in monthly
emigration ,,,_nce September re-
flects "a continuing trend from
the Slavic republics, particular-
- ly Ukraine," driven by economic
and political instability, said Mr.
Levin.
