Soldiers Wounded
In Lebanon Attack

Jerusalem (JTA) — Three Israeli
soldiers were wounded in an at-
tack launched by the Islamic fun-
damentalist Hezbollah
movement in the central sector
of the southern Lebanon securi-
ty zone.
Israel and its allied South
Lebanon Army responded to the
attack by launching artillery fire
at Hezbollah positions.
The three wounded soldiers
were flown to a hospital in Israel.
Two of the soldiers were later re-
ported to be lightly wounded, the
third moderately.
On the weekend, an Israeli sol-
dier was hurt when Hezbollah
gunmen ambushed an Israeli pa-
trol in the eastern sector of the
security zone.
A senior Israeli security source,
meanwhile, has denied claims
made by Hezbollah that 12 SLA
soldiers had defected to the Iran-
ian-backed group. He said
Hezbollah has recently intensi-
fied its campaign of psychologi-
cal warfare against the SLA.
