Alan Soifer
ALAN SOIFER has been pro-
moted to merchandise manager
at Sidney Krandall & Sons Jew-
elers in Troy.
Mr. Soifer, a Troy resident, is
recognized nationally as an ex-
pert appraiser. He has been
commissioned to speak several
times by the Smithsonian Insti-
tution and he has performed nu-
merous evaluations for
publicly-held companies.
ABRAHAM RAN, vice pres-
ident in charge of construction
for Biltmore Properties, was
honored at a surprise retirement
party last month at Plum Hol-
low Country Club in Southfield.
Mr. Ran, who came to Detroit
from Jerusalem in the 1950s to
attend Wayne State University,
has been on the board of direc-
tors of the Builders Association
of Southeastern Michigan for
more than 20 years. He cur-
rently is serving as treasurer.

honorary doctor of human let-
ters degree by Yeshiva Univer-

ing the university's 70th annu-
al Chanukah convocation and

also received an honorary doc-
toral degree from university
president Dr. Norman Lamm.
