Bennett will be formally installed as rabbi of Temple Israel at services Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. A graduate of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Re- ligion in Cincinnati where he was ordained Rabbi Bennett wrote his rabbinic thesis on "The Many Roles of Elijah and Elisha — The Charismatic Religious Leader in Perspective." As a student, he served congregations in North Carolina, Texas and Arkansas, as well as in Battle Creek and was rabbinic adviser of North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) Ohio Valley Fed- eration and director of UAHC high school youth programs for the region of Ohio, Indiana, Ken- tucky, West Virginia and part of Tennessee. Rabbi James M. Bennett, brother of Joshua, serves as rabbi of Temple Beth El in Charlotte, N.C. He will address the congre- gation and participate with the clergy in installing his brother.
