Sophisticated. Upscale.
Elegant. Tasteful.

studies show we represent a sig-
nificant portion of the communi-
ty. Many of us choose to live in
this part of the Jewish commu-
nity for personal, social and fi-
nancial reasons. We live in a
viable, stable area and would like
to continue to have reasonable
access to a Conservative Jewish
day school for our children's ed-
ucation.

That's the beauty of Style magazine. Its enticing,

vivid design and local flavor make it even more beau-

tiful to 60,000 of Oakland County's most distinctive,

Ministering
To All Peoples

Marilyn Cohn did not die alone.
She died with Rabbi Bunny
Freedman and with workers
from Hebrew Memorial. She
lived her last days at the appar-
ently marvelous Hospice of
Southeastern Michigan. Mr. Ja-
cobs, you were aware of her and
wrote about her (Dec. 2). All
things proving that none of us are
alone on this crowded planet.
An old theme that I have often
harped on is that we should be
concentrating on people, not
Jews. The idea and recognition
of multi-cultural unity is the sub-
ject that I would see as more im-
portant than the constant
in-group focus of our people.
Leadership by Jewish people
in the name of Jewish people for
the people of the earth, all the
people of the earth, is critical and
truly, in my mind the most im-
portant mission of our people to-
day.
Now, then, if you will obey Me
faithfully and keep My covenant,
you shall be My treasured pos-
session among all the peoples. In-
deed, all the earth is Mine, but
you shall be a kingdom of priests,
a holy nation. [Exodus 19, 5-6]
And who pray tell, kingdom—Of --
priests, shall we minister to?
Lonely Marilyn, certainly, and
all the rest of the people of the
earth. I call upon Detroit Jews to
act locally to carry out the mis-
sion of Israel in our metropolitan
area to openly minister to all peo-
ples, for the word of God and our
mission is not, simply put, for us
alone.
