Ages 6-12 Educators Learn About Prayer The Agency for Jewish Education will offer a Jewish educators learning minyan to all educators in the community. The minyan, which is the first of its kind in the area, will provide educators with the opportunity to experience and learn about tefillah/prayer. Participants will discuss the service, explore similarities and differences between Reform and Conservative siddurim and cus- toms, participate in a Ma'ariv ser- vice and learn about particular prayers and rituals from rabbis in our community. The first minyan is scheduled for Dec. 6 from 7-9 p.m. at Tem- ple Israel. Rabbi Joshua Bennett will explore 'The Amida: Finding personal time for reflection in the midst of a communal service." The second session will be Feb. 22 at Congregation Shaarey Zedek with Rabbi William Ger- shon, who will focus on "The Sh'ma and Its Blessings." The last session will be led by Rabbi Elliot Pachter at Congre- gation B'nai Moshe on April 4. He will discuss individual prayer ver- sus communal prayer, focusing on Birchat Hashachar. All of the sessions will be fa- cilitated by Elizza Berg, educa- tion director at Temple Kol Ami with music by Raquel P. Ger- shon, director of the AJE's Teacher's Resource Center, and Shawn Locke, director of School Services at the ME. There is no charge for the Learning Minyan.
