Holiday Shows
At Gem

The Gem Theatre is the place to
celebrate the holidays now that
the musical Beehive will remain
in Detroit through the holidays.
The Gem Theatre has an-
nounced some special holiday
performances and ticket pricing.
Gift certificates are also available.
On Dec. 24, there will be two
showings and all tickets are two
for one. There are special dis-
count prices throughout the
month, including a New Year's
Day special at 6 p.m. for $12.25
per ticket.
Beehive takes the audience on
a nostalgic musical trip back to
the '60s when dynamic female vo-
calists such as the Supremes,
Chiffons, Shirelles and Shangri-
las ruled the airwaves. Beehive
chronicles five teen-age girls
growing up in a decade filled with
lots of hairspray, mini skirts and
awkward high school dances and
the more serious social and po-
litical times of JFK, Martin
Luther King, Jr. and Vietnam.
Whether your memories are of
songs by Annette Funicello,
Leslie Gore or Tina Turner, this
play has a high-energy appeal
that spans all age groups.
Playgoers and music lovers
will enjoy Beehive with cabaret-
style seating on the main floor
and hors d'oeuvres and full-bar
service throughout the theatre.
Tickets are available through
TicketMaster or at the Gem The-
atre box office (313)963-9800.
