Bruce Adler

The Cultural Commission of Congregation Shaarey
Zedek will host the 12th annual Chanukah concert, spon-
sored by the Laker family, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
The concert will star Bruce Adler, actor-song and
dance man who is featured in the Broadway musical
Crazy For You, for which he received Tony Award nom-
ination.
Featured as an accompanist will be Zalmen Mlotek,
known for his album "The Pearls of Yiddish Song." Mr.
Mlotek was co-author and musical director of the Yid-
dish-English Broadway Musicals Those Were The Days
and On Second Avenue.
Children of Hillel Day School Choir and the Sharrey
Zedek Youth Choir will sing Chanukah songs as an
added feature in the program, which also will include a
Yiddish sing-along conducted by Mr. Mlotek.
Admission is free.

Dreyfus Affair
Marked By Lecture

The 100th anniversary of
the Dreyfus affair will be
marked with a lecture by
noted author and historian
Michael Marrus on Dec. 4
at 4 p.m. at Temple Beth EL
The lecture, co-sponsored
by the Cohn-Haddow Cen-
ter for Judaic Studies at
Wayne State University
and Temple Beth El, is open
to the community without
charge.
The Dreyfus affair is not-
ed not only for its impact at
the time, but also for its ul-
timate impact on the Jew-
ish people. The affair
became an international
cause celebre, marked by vi-
cious anti-Semitic attacks
and vigorous public debate.
A professor of history at
the University of Toronto
and a fellow of the Royal So-
ciety of Canada, Michael
Marrus has concentrated
his research on the history
Michael Markus
of the Jews in France, Eu-
ropean Fascism and the
Holocaust. He is the author of five books on European history. He has lec-
tured widely in North America, Europe and Israel.
In addition to his appearance at Temple Beth El, Professor Marrus will
speak at the Wayne State campus on Dec. 5 at 11:45 a.m. in the Kresge Library
Auditorium, Room 110. His topic will be"A New Look at Auschwitz and the
Final Solution." This lecture also is open to the community without charge.

National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Detroit
Section, will host an informative evening presenta-
tion with David Littmann, senior economist with
Comerica Bank. Mr. Littmann is well known as a fre-
quent book reviewer and op-ed writer for the Detroit
News and is a columnist and regular commentator
in other national publications, including the Wall
Street Journal, and in local and national radio and
TV media as well.
Mr. Littmann is president of the Heartland Insti-
tute in Michigan, an independent public policy re-
search center located in Detroit. In 1992, Mr.
Litimann was appointed to serve on Governor En-
gler's Council of Economic Advisers. He frequently
consults with Michigan's legislators, providing testi-
mony on economic and financial issues of concern to
policy makers.
Mr. Littmann will speak on "First Class Jews in a
Second Class Nation." There is no charge for the pro-
gram, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the NCJW
offices, 30233 Southfield Road, Suite 100. Call for

"Jewish Heroes and Role Mod-
els: Do They Exist? - Who Are
They?" will be discussed by
Elizabeth Applebaum of The
Jewish News. 1 p.m. at the
