Israel Philharmonic In China ■ PERSONAL SHOPPER ■ IMAGE CONSULTANT Tel Aviv (JTA) — The Israel Phil- harmonic Orchestra will perform two first-ever concerts in China next month during a tour of the Far East, the orchestra has an- nounced. The Asia tour, under the baton of orchestra director Zubin Mehta, and with violinist Yitzhak Perlman performing as soloist, opened in Tokyo on Nov. 6. The first of the China concerts will be held in the 10,000-seat au- ditorium of the House of the Peo- ple government building overlooking Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Nov. 23. The per- formance will be repeated in Shanghai the next day. Tickets for the Beijing perfor- mance will be steep, costing up to $50 — the average monthly wage.
