niors, Young At Heart, will cele-
brate Thanksgiving and
Chanukah with a pre-holiday
luncheon and program Nov. 17
at noon at the synagogue. The
program will feature Rabbi Her-
bert Yoskowitz who will speak on
"Thanksgiving and Chanukah,
Similarities and Differences."

Machon L'Torah will open its
fall/winter educational program-
ming with the following educa-
tional events. At 11:45 a.m. Nov.
14 Machon will hold a special ses-
sion at the Oakland Center of
Oakland University in Rochester
on the topic "Why Bad Things
Happen To Good People." The
program will incldue a deli lunch
followed by a lecture and discus-
sion by Rabbi Jacobovitz, direc-
tor of Machon.
On Nov. 15 Michael Traison
and Richard Loebl will sponsor a
Torah exchange lecture at Miller,
Canfield, Paddock and Stone at
150 W. Jefferson in downtown
Detroit at 12:15 p.m. The topic is
"Jewish Ethics from a Talmudi-
cal Perspective."
On Nov. 16 at 12:15 p.m. Rab-
bi Jacobovitz will lecture at Hil-
lel Student Center at Wayne
State University on "Remaining
Moral in an Immoral Society."
In addition, Machon will hold
the first JudaiCollege session
Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. with a discus-
sion titled "Dreams and Night-
mares a Peephole to The Soul."
These events are a community
service with no charge.

Torah Study
Rabbi William Gershon, associ-
ate rabbi of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, will lead the Con-
servative Movement Torah Study
Nov. 17 at 12:30 p.m. at the Max
M. Fisher Building. The study
session is sponsored by the Jew-
ish Theological Seminary, the
Michigan Region Rabbinical As-
sembly and the Michigan Region
of the United Synagogue.
Study sessions are held every
