THANKSGIVING MENU

COMPLETE DINNER

$11" per person

We Use Only
Empire Kosher Turkey

basket of fresh bread and salad
... One of the pastas, linguine a
la Gaeto, with olive oil, garlic,
clams and shrimp, $14.95; is
named after his grandma and
grandpa's hometown, two hours
from Rome.
Herbs are grown in pots and
pans on the restaurant patio, but
mainly at home.
Hours for lunch are Monday
through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 3
p.m.; dinner, Monday through
Thursday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Fri-
day, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday,
4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m ... It is open
Sundays only for private parties.
The exploitation of Marco Con-
te's cooking talents have brought
high rewards for Ann and Enzo,
both now retired from the restau-
rant business, and Marco him-
self.
Marco's has a quiet consisten-
cy that makes many regulars out
of "let's try it" customers ...The
returning of guests is a major key
to restaurant success ... Rina's

Three generations
had input.

on Schaefer had it ... Marco's en-
joys it, too.
IT IS IN over 125 markets, in-
cluding Paris, Israel, etc., and cel-
ebrating year number 34 with
Entertainment '95 ... However,
the most impressive and quiet
new venture in fundraising is
something far removed from din-
ing savings.
Everybody knows about its
world-wide editions, like proceeds
from Entertainment books going
into a general fund to support a
B'nai B'rith boys' home in Israel,
BBYO, ADL and Hillel pro-
grams on college campuses ...
But groups are making boodles
with something altogether dif-
ferent from Entertainment pub-
lications.
Would you believe gift wrap-
ping and accessories? ... So much
that the company has become the
country's leading provider of
quality gift wrap and accessories
... All across the nation, funding
by community groups have put
Entertainment's gift wrap, cards
and adjuncts in much high de-
mand.
It started in the Detroit area
as a little coupon book company
and has grown into considerably
more ... Who would have ever
imagined that gift wrapping by
Entertainment would become
such a very hot fund-raising item!
HEALTH DEPT. scores are
based on many things ... loose
wok in the kitchen, food display,
suitable utensils, storing of wip-
ing cloths, plumbing installa-
tions, self-closing doors, proper
lighting, ventilation, waste re-
ceptacles in bathrooms, etc. ...
Because of this the tallys can be

very misleading ... Also, scores
that a restaurant might have
been given before remodeling or
new installations sometimes
come back to unfairly haunt
them ... especially when in the
hands of the wrong people.
CONGRATS ... to Izzy Gold-
man ... and Sam Richman ... on
their 80th birthdays ... Izzy's cel-
ebration was at the Westmore
Look Resort in Tuscon, Ariz.,
where the former localite now
lives ... Sam blew out his candles
here at Excalibur restaurant ...
to Roxane and Brian Norman ...
on their first anniversary.
BACK IN 1911, when Sidney
Krandall opened his first jewel-
lystore on Woodward Avenue in
Detroit, he never imagined that
his love and appreciation for fine
and precious gemstones would
one day become a family tradi-
tion.
As Sidney Krandall & Sons
Jewelers celebrates its 84th an-
niversary, grandson and presi-
dent Stan Krandall reflects on
his rich family heritage that he
describes as a "diamond in the
rough."
After nine years at the Wood-
ward Avenue locale, Sidney's
business flourished and, in 1921,
he opened shop occupying three
floors in the Broadway Capitol
Building ... At that time, it was
considered the largest jewelry
and gold refining shop in Detroit
... By the early '40s, Sidney
Krandall Jewelers again changed
locales to Second Avenue at Sears
in Highland Park, to accommo-
date not only a jewelry showroom
but the newly-created Abrasive
Diamond Tool Company.
It won't be long before the next
generation of Krandalls carries
on this family tradition ... Some-
times, instead of reading fairy-
tales to 5-year-old Allison and 2-
year-old Sidney, Stan will tell his
daughters about their great-
grandfather Sidney's adventures
at the diamond mines and pearl
farms.
THERE'S A LOT at stake be-
ing mayor ... Don Fracassi
knows how much his reputation
as head honcho of Southfield is
on the line owning a restaurant
... Don's Prima Diner on the
Northwestern service drive, off
10 Mile and Evergreen, may be
his showcase as a restaurateur,
but mayor or not, customers still
want a lot of value ... Don gives
it to them ... like the $4.95 lunch
of large pasta, large salad and
bread basket.
NEW YORK Pizza World,
owned by Leo Mertz on Lincoln
off Greenfield in Oak Park, is a
little honor system kosher restau-
rant ... You get your food (piz-
za, sandwiches, soups) from a
counter, eat and then tell what
you had before paying ...
you go there, make sure to call
ahead so your food will be
ready. El

For some
children, visions
of growing up
may be simply
that. Visions.

Children with cystic fibrosis
want to grow up. They have
dreams of the future just like
every other child.
More than half of them will
live into their twenties, but that's
when life should be beginning
not ending.
Your gift of $15, $25, or even
more will give a child more than
just a vision of hope. Give the
future... call 1-800-343-4300,
