I've known Gary
a long time. He's
exactly the kind of
person—accessible,
accountable, decisive—
we need in the State
Senate and we can
count on once
he gets there.

state government from
wasting opportunities
to invest for our future

Veteran Democrat Jack Faxon is ending a 30-year legislative career. To succeed him in this Oakland County district,
which sprawls from Eight Mile Road to Pontiac, we prefer Democrat GARY PETERS. Mr. Peters combines local-
government, professional and academic expertise in fiscal issues. He has worked effectively on environmental and
personal-privacy issues as well. His Republic an opponent...cannot match Mr. Peters' experience or credentials.

Theft Of Art
Is Investigated

Toronto (JTA) — Officials at
Britain's Scotland Yard are in-
vestigating the theft of 20 large
canvasses about the Holocaust
jointly created by a Toronto and
London artist.
The paintings are the work of
Rivka Golani, a renowned Israeli-
Canadian viola soloist who is also
an abstract artist, and Israel Zo-
har, a London realist painter best
known for his portrait of Diana,
princess of Wales.
After the paintings were ex-
hibited at a London gallery last
year, Mr. Zohar placed them in
storage. Visiting the rented
garage before Rosh Hashanah,
he discovered the paintings were
missing and reported the theft to
the police.
Scotland Yard has failed to
turn up any clues about the
whereabouts of the art, valued at
$300,000 (Canadian).
The thieves only took collabo-
rative paintings.

Most of us feel that the country is being moved in the wrong direction -- that
the Clinton Administration and its "tax and spend" allies in Congress are out
of touch with those of us in mainstream America.

Our best hope, lies in a change in Congress. We need a Congressman who
understands that America's greatness is best preserved by making
government smaller and more effective; that will cut spending rather than
raise taxes; that will protect, nurture and value the family, and that will keep
us safe from foreign and domestic threats. This is the way I will represent
you in Congress.
