She watched and learned the ways of the skilled cook and baker that her mom- ma was and would eventually pass on the wonderful recipes she had seen her momma make. She was sent to Warsaw to attend a year of gymnasium and then to the University of Warsaw, where she completed her training to become a den- tist by the age of 19. Sally and her husband Maurice came to America and settled in Detroit near Maurice's relatives. Her concern was not only for her family, but also for the plight of Jews all over the world. She joined a Pioneer Women group, involved herself in their activ- ities and fund-raising. She served as a translator for Russ- ian immigrants coming into the medical clinic at Sinai Hospital. Mrs. Stockman always read avidly about Jewish affairs in the United States and in Israel . She attended discussion groups related to the Jewish plight and established a fund at the Jewish Community Center to help needy individuals, con- tributing herself when funds were low. She was the wife of the late Maurice.
