Lois Tayer Gives Lectures Lois Yehudit Tayer, from Beit Horon, will speak in several syn- agogues during the weekend of Nov. 12-13. Ms. Tayer, who is a member of Israel's Settler Move- ment, is a spokesperson for yesha, an organization commit- ted to improving the quality of life for Jews in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Ms. Tayer will speak for Bais Chabad Torah Center in West Bloomfield, Congregation Shom- rey Emunah in Southfield and Young Israel of Southfield about Israel's water resources, Jewish settlements, and Arab population considerations as well as the geostrategic situation in north- ern Israel. She will be spending Shabbat at Bais Chabad Torah Center and will speak to members of the Young Israel of Southfield at a melava malka at the the home of Rabbi Silberberg. Author Honored At Symposium The Russian-Jewish writer Isaac Emmanuilovich Babel will be honored in an exhibition and symposium to be held at the Uni- versity of Michigan Nov. 4-6. Films based on the literature of Mr. Babel as well as the life of the author will be presented. This symposium is being sponsored by the Department of Slavic Lan- guages, the University of Michi- gan Library and Irwin T. and Shirley Holtzman. It is open to the public free of charge.
