RUGGED TIMBERLAND
WORK BOOTS NOW IN

Axner joined her sister on both
squads and Julia Music was on
the 400 relay team.
Julie Golding of West Bloom-
field won the diving competition
by scoring 215.25 points.

Sept. 1, Kimball handed the
Bears a 9-3 defeat.
Craig Somers assisted on
Berkley's lone goal against Kim-
ball in the district game and Ep-
stein said Scott Howard and
Segev Phillips of the Bears
played well.
Berkley had some bad luck in
the contest. Three of the Bears'
shots hit the goalpost and an-
other two went right to the Kim-
ball keeper instead of into a
wide-open net.

AMIR TAL of Oakland Uni-
versity ranks third among
NCAA Division II soccer goalies
with an 0.46 goals-against av-
erage. Oakland is third as a
team with an 0.50 mark. Tal is
a freshman from Israel.

Joel Epstein: A final 12-6 record.

JOEL EPSTEIN'S Berkley
High School boys soccer team
lost its first four games, won its
next 12, and finished with two
consecutive losses. The end Le-
suit was a 12-6 record, the best
in the team's history.
The Bears were bounced from
the Class A state tournament
on Oct. 24 when Royal Oak
Kimball beat them 4-1 in a dis-
trict opener. It was Berkley's
second loss to Kimball. Back on

ELI TIOMKIN scored at the
60-minute mark to tie the game
at 1-1 and the Oakland Uni-
versity soccer team went on to
defeat 'Tiffin (Ohio) 2-1 in over-
time on Oct. 29.
It was the team-leading 10th
goal for Tiomkin, a senior strik-
er from Israel.
On Oct. 26, Tiomkin scored
one goal and assisted on two
others during the Pioneers' 3-1
victory over Western Michigan.
The win over Tiffin was the
eighth straight for Oakland,
which improved its record to 14-
1-1.
