three-year term on the board of
directors of the Michigan Retail-
ers Association (MRA).
Mr. Rosenfeld has been Ja-
cobson's chairman since 1993. He
was named president in 1982 and
CEO in 1992.
Jacobson, based in Jackson, op-
erates 25 stores in Michigan,
Florida, Ohio and Indiana and is
scheduled to open its 26th store
in Louisville, Ky., next month.
The MRA represents more
than 4,200 retail businesses
which operate 8,000 stores in
Michigan. It is the largest state
retail trade association of its kind

in the nation.

Mr. Kent has been an adviser
to several states, including Michi-
gan, Ohio, Massachusetts, Al-
abama and Alaska, regarding
their pre-paid tuition programs.
In New Orleans, Mr. Kent
appeared on a panel with Penn-
sylvania treasurer Catherine
Baker Knoll, U.S. Rep. Tom Bar-
low from Kentucky and
Lawrence Gladieux of the College
Board.

ABRAHAM SINGER, a senior
partner with the law firm of Pep-
per, Hamilton & Scheetz, has
been appointed managing part-
ner of the Detroit office.

been named executive director of
Springhouse Assisted Living in
Southfield, a new facility under
construction which is expected to
be completed by February.
Ms. Lipkowitz has been in-
volved in the congregate/assist-
ed living industry in the
metropolitan Detroit area for 10
years.
Springhouse will be an upscale
licensed residential facility offer-
ing three levels of assisted living
care. It is the first Michigan ven-
ture of Manor Care, a Silver
Spring, Md., corporation.
