An exploration of the relationship between the American Jewish community
and Israel by visiting young Israelis and American Jews.

Prentis Morris Jewish Commu-
nity Center from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
The free program will celebrate
the first birthday of the newly ex-
panded and renovated JPM
building and will include a series
of experiential activities in which
families will explore the cycle of
the Jewish calendar through
crafts, activities and games.
Participants are invited to join
the birthday celebration which
will include birthday cake, bal-
loons, clowns and a magic show
by magician Jim Carmody at 3
p.m. In addition, various mem-
bership specials will be offered to
those who join the Center on that
day and building tours as well as
program and membership infor-
mation will be available.

tive Movement weekly Torah
Study series Oct. 20 at 12:30 p.m.
at the Max M. Fisher Building.
In addition to his responsibil-
ities at Congregation B'nai
Moshe, Rabbi Pachter teaches
Rabbinic literature at Hillel Day
School and is president of the
Michigan Region of the Rabbini-
cal Assembly.
Participants will study the
weekly Torah portion with tradi-
tional and contemporary sources.
There is no charge for the class
and reservations are not re-

moderate a discussion based on
many of the issues raised in the
book With Friends Like You by

Temple Shir Shalom. Mr. Bikel reflected on his life, and copies of his
autobiography were sold. Mr. Bikel was in Detroit appearing in Fiddler on the
