Program Focus:
End Of Life
Adat Shalom Synagogue will host
two informative discussions on
End-of-Life Issues at 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 13 and 20. The program s
will feature Dr. Sarah Gelberd
and Attorney Norman Hyman.
Along with Dr. Gelberd and
Mr. Hyman, Adat Shalom Rab-
bis will look at the medical and
legal issues of aging, illness and
trauma. The evening also will
provide an opportunity to exam-
ine a living will suggested by the
Rabbinical Assembly and the op-
tion of filling out the living will
under the guidance of the experts.
Dr. Gelberd is medical direc-
tor of the Sinai Hospital Senior
Assessment Clinic. Following her
training in internal medicine, she
completed a fellowship in geri-
atric medicine in 1981.
Attorney Norman Hyman will
discuss many of the legal issues
surrounding death. He has an ac-
tive civil litigation practice, has
been a panel member in Bar As-
sociation-sponsored seminars on
trial practice and has written ex-
tensively on numerous legal is-
sues.
Both evenings begin at 7:30
p.m. They are open to the com-
munity at no charge.
Alpha Omega
Events Planned
Detroit Auxullary of Alpha
Omega will have its annual fall
luncheon Oct. 11 at noon at the
City Grill in Birmingham. Ed
Jano will give a cooking demon-
stration. There will be boutiques
and guests are welcome. For

The auxiliary will hold an
evening of dinner and dancing at
Mr. B's in Southfield on Oct. 29
at 7:30 p.m. There will be dance
instruction provided by Kathy
and Duke Newman from "Do-

Temple Israel will begin another
nine-week Bereavement Support
group on Tuesdays from Oct. 11
through Dec. 6 from 7:30 - 9 p.m.
The group, which meets at the
temple, will be led by trained fa-
cilitators.
The Bereavement Support
Group is offered free of charge to
any member of the Jewish com-
munity who has suffered the loss
of a loved one. To register for the
