Harriet Band Rotter

HARRIET BAND ROTTER
will receive a Distinguished
Women's Award from North-
wood University during the
award program's 25th annual
luncheon Oct. 4 at the Ritz-Carl-
ton Hotel in Dearborn.
A Franklin attorney who spe-
cializes in family law, Ms. Band
Rotter is a nationally-recognized
expert on domestic issues.
She has participated in set-
ting legal precedents in child
custody cases, developed for-
mulas for equitable division of
property and assets and lobbied
for arbitration as a means of
preserving the privacy and dig-
nity of divorcing couples.
Northwood will commemo-
rate the 25th anniversary of its
Distinguished Women's pro-
gram Nov. 10-12 at the Waldorf
Astoria in New York City. Ms.
Band Rotter will be honored
there, too. Past Michigan hon-
orees include Michelle Engler
and Dr. Sonya Friedman.
CRAIG NEWMAN, who was
born in Detroit and raised in
Farmington Hills, has been
named senior vice president and
general counsel for Oscar Gruss
& Son, a New York-based in-
vestment banking and securi-
ties firm.
Mr. Newman, 37, is a part-
ner in the New York office of
Arnold & Porter, an interna-
tional law firm. He has been
with Arnold & Porter for more
than six years.
In 1984, Mr. Newman grad-
uated with honors from the Uni-
versity of Detroit School of Law,
where he was editor-in-chief of
the Law Review. He Also holds

a master's degree in journalism
from the University of Missouri
Married and the father of two
children, Mr. Newman lives in
Scarsdale, N.Y.
BOB WAUN has been ap-
pointed vice president of loan
production for Americor Mort-
gage in Troy. Mr. Waun will be
responsible for implementing
Americor's new mortgage soft-
ware, called Amerisoft, and he
will assist and direct the Ameri-
cor sales force.
GARY LEVITT has opened his
own law office in Bloomfield
Hills. Mr. Levitt, formerly with
Fried and Levitt, will continue
to concentrate his practice on
personal injury, domestic rela-
tions, general corporate, real es-
tate and employment rights.

Hills, a franchise with $22 mil-
lion in annual sales. A licensed
real estate agent since 1978, Mr.
Levett formerly was a manag-
er for Chamberlain Realtors
and Coldwell Banker
Schweitzer.
Mr. Levett is a volunteer
guide at the Holocaust Memor-
ial Center on the Jewish Com-
munity Center campus in West
Bloomfield.
STEPHEN FELDMAN, a
shareholder in the law firm of

a one-year term as secretary/
treasurer of the Taxation Sec-
