The Festival Dancers have been
in residence at the Jewish com-
munity Center for almost 30
years. They are an all-woman
company; they perform a varied
repertory that has proved popu-
lar with audiences of all ages.
Festival Dancers invite new-
corners to attend an open house
10-11:30 a.m. Oct. 6 at Maple/
Drake. Technique class, a com-
bination of ballet and jazz, will be
taught by master teacher, Lau-
ren Toth followed by a reperto-
ry demonstration and question
and answer period. There is no
charge.

`The Nerd'
On Stage

Village Commons Center

Michigan Design Center (MDC)
and Style magazine will present
an important day of design Oct.
18 with proceeds to benefit the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra
Hall.
Carla Schwartz, editor of Style,
will discuss design and decorat-
ing trends with a slide presenta-
tion featuring new metro area
design projects as featured in her
magazine, as well as new-season
product from the showrooms of
Michigan Design Center. The lec-
ture will be followed by a lun-
cheon with a fashion show.
Guided tours of the MDC show-
rooms will complete the program.

Rosedale Community Players
will present Larry Shue's The
Nerd, a farce that examines the
boundaries of friendship when
a "nerd" comes to visit.
Shows will be on Fridays and
Saturdays, for three weekends,
Sept. 30, October 1, 7, 8, 14 and
15 at 8 p.m. A matinee will be
presented Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.
All performances are at the
Upstage, 21728 Grand River, 1/2
block East of Lahser. For infor-

Antiques Expo
