When it comes
to Jewish
knowledge,
do you ever feel
like you're on
the outside
looking in?

If you are like many Jewish adults
today, you have a positive sense of
Jewish identity but feel hampered
by a lack of concrete Jewish
knowledge. You have never been
exposed to Judaism on a sophisticated,
adult level. You may feel a sense of
incompleteness, a yearning to
reconnect. Judaism can be a powerful
source of comfort, wisdom, and
direction for contemporary adult life.
The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School
is an entry point through which you
can launch yourself on a personal
voyage of Jewish self-discovery.

Do the children
in your family
know more
about Judaism
than you do?

This is an issue for many Jewish
families today. Grandparents, parents,
aunts, and uncles are searching for
ways to broaden their own Jewish
knowledge. The immediate goal may
be to keep up with the children, but
many adults also are seeking to forge a
meaningful connection to Judaism for
their own sake. If this describes you.
consider the Florence Melton Adult
Mini-School. It is a new approach to
adult Jewish learning.

How do you
see yourself as
part of the
Jewish people?

Underlying your busy life and personal
and professional commitments may be
a desire to know more and do more
about being Jewish. You may have the
memory of learning as a premier
Jewish value, an awareness of the
great texts and timeless traditions, and
a wish to incorporate them into your
life, to share the Jewish experience and
pass it on to future generations. The
Florence Melton Adult Mini-School can
help you realize this goal.

Could you use
an entry point
for new
friendships?

Here is an opportunity to meet other
Jewish adults in a comfortable,
intellectually challenging environment.
The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School
is a magnet for adult learners who
enjoy the give-and-take of a dynamic,
study-group experience. Whether you
are new to the community or are
simply looking for ways to expand your
circle of friends, the Melton Mini-
School can be an entry point for you.

The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School
is pluralistic and inclusive in its
approach to Jewish learning. It offers
an integrated, sequential course of
study with a core curriculum developed

University's Melton Center for Jewish
Education. Classes are community-
based, designed to attract adult
learners of all ages and from a variety
of backgrounds, modes of personal
observance, and religious philosophy
across the spectrum of contemporary
Jewish life.

Melton Mini-School classes meet once a
week, 30 weeks a year, for two years.
Each weekly session consists of two
one-hour classes with a break for
refreshments and discussion. Classes
run from October through May. There
are no prerequisites, grades, exams, or
homework assignments. At the end of
two years, participants receive a
certificate of completion from the
Hebrew University. From time to
time, special events and learning
opportunities will be offered
exclusively for Melton Mini-School
participants. All who enroll in the
Melton Mini-School are eligible to
participate in annual Melton Mini-
School trips to Israel.
