YOU SHOULDN'T EAT
EVERYTHING PUT IN
FRONT OF YOU.
You should avoid foods high in
cholesterol. It's a fact, a high
blood cholesterol level sub-
stantially increases your
chances of developing heart
disease. By cutting down on
fatty, rich foods, you can do
yourself a big favor. You could
lower your blood cholesterol
level and reduce your risk of
heart disease.

form the bail-out finally takes,
Mr. Weingarten maintained, "It
is the last one the kibbutzim are
going to get. We're going to have
to get our lives together or there
will be drastic measures by the
year 2000."
Mr. Ben-David sounds more
optimistic, but for a surprising
reason: "Our strength is in our
weakness. We're very important
to the Israeli economy, and we
employ thousands of outside
workers. If tomorrow tens of
thousands of families are dumped
on the street, the cost to the econ-
omy will be much greater than
the cost of the bail-out."
Kibbutzniks no longer are wor-
ried about idealism or communal
principles. They are worried
about money. As Takam chair-
man Arik Reichrnan put it, "'This
is not a pioneering society any-
more. Its a society that's just try-
ing to survive."

fense Force soldier was killed and
two others wounded in a drive-

trol a few yards on either side of

Yunis when a car with local Gaza
Strip license plates sped by and
its four occupants opened auto-
matic fire on the soldiers.
Victor Shichman, 20, of Upper
Nazareth, was fatally wounded
in the head and died while being
The attackers sped

operated on at the Soroka Hos-
pital in Beersheba, where he had
been transferred by helicopter.
Two other soldiers were
wounded, one with light injuries
and the other more seriously but
not critical.
Israeli soldiers in the patrol re-
turned the fire, together with oth-
er border policemen in the
vicinity and members of the
Palestinian police force taking
part in the patrol.
The attackers sped towards
Khan Yunis, where they disap-
peared. Two wounded attackers
were later captured while still in
their vehicle. Their affiliation was
not immediately known.
A
Palestinian
police
spokesman said he believed the
attackers were members of a
group opposed to the Palestine
Liberation Organization who
wished to embarrass PLO Chair-
man Yassir Arafat and to derail
the peace process.
