The annual New Year
program attracted
hundreds to the AJE.

fit wasn't Menschy the Clown who got the
children's attention, it was Rabbi Ahron
Davison drilling out shofars.
And if the children wanted to learn how to
blow that newly made High Holiday instru-
ment, they could go inside the Agency for Jew-
ish Education and get some pointers from Fred
Goldenberg, one of the shofar-blowers extra-
ordinaire at Congregation Beth Shalom.
Sunday's annual program drew a cross-sec-
tion of the Detroit Jewish community, includ-
ing Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jews,
and New Americans from the former Soviet
Union. There were all kinds of games, puz-
zles and arts activities sponsored by area
Jewish organizations to help get the New Year
off to a festive start.
The co-sponsors included the AJE, Jewish Ex-
periences for Families and The Jewish News, in
cooperation with more than 20 local Jewish
agencies, schools and organizations. LI
