Concert Series
Opens in Oct.

The 1994-95 season of the Julius
Chajes Concert Series will open
Oct. 23 with the first in a series
of five classical music concerts.
Three performances are by artists
from the Young Concert Artists
roster to be held in the Janice
Charach Epstein Museum
Gallery at the Maple/Drake Jew-
ish Community Center. New this
season, the Chajes Series also will
present two concerts at the Jim-
my Prentis Morris building.
Leningrad violinist Dmitri
Berlinsky will perform Oct. 23 in
the Janice Charach Epstein Mu-
seum Gallery at Maple/Drake.
Ukrainian pianist Alex Slo-
bodyanik will give a recital on
April 2 at Maple/Drake. The Bor-
romeo String Quartet will per-
form May 7, at the final concert.
Israeli cellist Zvi Plesser will
perform at the JPM on Nov. 20.
Oak Park native Gabriel
Bolkosky will be the featured vi-
olin soloist March 12.

New Name
For Temple Youth

Beginning with the 1994-95
school year, MSTY (Michigan
State Temple Youth), the Reform
Jewish youth movement in
Michigan, will have a new name:
NFTY - Michigan Region.
T Ast spring at the North Amer-
ican Federation of Temple Youth
(NFTY) Annual Meeting, dele-
gates from the 21 NFTY regions
across the continent voted to do
away with regional acronym
names in favor of having all re-
gions refer to themselves as
NFTY. This unification resolu-
tion will allow members of Re-
form Temple Youth Groups from
the United States and Canada to
fully understand and appreciate
that as youth group members,
they are also members of NFTY,
the umbrella organization for all
Reform Temple Youth.
