Hunter at Lincoln • Birmingham Local w The 1994-95 premiere season of the Encore Series will open Oct. 8, at the Maple/Drake Jewish Community Center. This year's series will present jazz, comedy, Israeli pop artists and a one- woman stand-up show. The Klezmatics, a jazz klezmer band, will open the season on Oct. 8. They made their debut in 1986 on New York's Lower East Side and have been a major force in the revitalization of Yiddish klezmer music. The series will continue with Chicago City Limits Comedy & Improv Theatre's "Taking It To The Limit" on Jan. 14. They are New York City's longest running improvisational theatre ensem- ble. Returning to Detroit, Noa and Gil Dor will perform Feb. 8. These Israeli superstars are riding high after the celebrated success of their third album, "Noa."
