METRO DETROIT'S ORIGINAL Fall Arrives At The Village Inventions we humans can take credit for will be highlighted dur- ing Fall Fling at Henry Ford Mu- seum & Greenfield Village. Greenfield Village's tree-lined streets take on a magical aura as autumn leaves form a colorful canopy for horse-drawn carriage tours. A steam-powered locomo- tive chugs around the Village for narrated rides through Oct. 16. Beginning Sept. 17, it's crunch time at the historic cider mill and thousands of Michigan-grown ap- ples have a pressing engagement with the cider press. Visitors can taste the tangy results at the Vil- lage's bake shop through Oct. 16. Life in the past lane kicks into high gear with Old Car Festival. Collectors from across the nation gathered with their vintage ve- hicles (1929) and earlier) for the only car meet of its kind in the world. Parades and demonstra- tions of early motoring skills give car lovers a rare opportunity to see these oldies but goodies in action. It's life on the fun track during Railroad Days on Sept. 24, 25. Everyone can get the feel of workin' and travelin' on the rail- road with vintage and modern train cars and locomotives to ex- plore. Hands-on activities, games, model trains and a chance to vis- it a "hobo camp" provide enter- tainment all the live-long day. Life on the farm is never laid back during Fall Harvest Days, Sept. 30, Oct. 1, 2. Visitors can help with the chores as costumed interpreters re-create the season of plenty at historic farms of the 18th, 19th and early 20th cen- turies. Harvesting and plowing keep field hands busy while farm- house workers put up provisions for winter. Museum & Village are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily during fall season. Holiday season hours (Friday following Thanksgiving through New Year's Day) 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a charge. 2 FOR RATED BEST CAPPUCCINO IN METRO DETROIT AND FREE DESSERT!
