When fitting a hearing instrument to
its user, a dispenser will attempt to
selectively amplify certain frequencies in
accordance with the user's hearing loss
configurations. Among the methods used
to accomplish this frequency amplifica-
tion in conventional hearing instruments
is to adjust the tone control (treble or
bass). On the other hand, multi-band hear-
ing instruments lend themselves to greater
fine-tuning of the amplification pattern
than do conventional, single-band hear-
ing instruments. Multi-band instruments
permit adjustment of the low frequencies
independently of the higher frequencies.
Beyond that, the cross-over points (where
the high and low bands meet) may be
varied in accordance with the configura-
tion of the user's hearing loss.
All of the technology that is involved in
the fitting and making of a hearing aid may
seem confusing, but please be assured
that the professionals at CRUZ HEARING
AID SERVICE use the most up to date and
state of the art equipment to ensure that
the hearing aid that you choose is the best
one for you. We carry a variety of differ-
ent brands of hearing aids to best suit your
individual needs. Please call us at 424-
8450. We are conveniently located at
18899 W.12 Mlle Rd., in Lathrup Village.
We also make house calls, and credit calls
are accepted.
P.S. By adjusting the band width,
selective amplification within the band,
and maximum output on a multi-band
instrument it is possible to fit users with
different types of hearing losses.
