Metro Hillel
Plans Events

Wayne State Hillel invites all stu-
dents to an Open House Sept. 12,
13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room
667 Student Center Building.
Oakland University will have
a general meeting Sept. 13 at
noon in the Oakland Center Fac-
ulty Lounge. All students are
welcome to attend.
Join Hillel of Metro Detroit on
Oct. 2 at 6:45 p.m. for a hayride,
bonfire and line dancing at
Wiard's Orchard in Ypsilanti. For
cost and directions, call Hillel,

Mini-School
Classes Set

Melton Adult Mini-School class-
es in metro Detroit this fall will
start the week of Oct. 10 and will
be offered at the following times
and places: Monday mornings
from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Hadas-
sah House in West Bloomfield;
and Thursday nights from 7 to
9:30 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El
(first semester) and Congregation
Beth Shalom (second semester)
in Oak Park. Each session con-
sists of two one-hour classes with
a break for refreshments and in-
formal discussion. Classes meet
30 weeks a year for two years.
Teaching this year in the Flo-
rence Melton Adult Mini-School
of Metro Detroit will be: Elissa
Berg, religious school director of
Temple Kol Ami; Rabbi Julian I.
Cook, former associate rabbi at
Temple Beth El; Aviva Silver-
man, an adult and family educa-
tor and instructor at Hillel Day
School, Ms. Berg will teach a first-
semester course titled "The Vo-
cabulary of Jewish Living." Rabbi
Cook will teach a second-semes-
ter course titled 'The Purposes of
Jewish Living." Ms. Silverman
will teach a two-semester course
titled "The Rhythms of Jewish
Living."
The list of Midrasha's Melton
Mini-School partners continues
to grow, with the recent addition
of Hillel of Metro Detroit and The
Jewish News. Inadvertently omit-
ted from an earlier list of part-
ners were Congregation Beth
Achim and Congregation Beth
Shalom.
Class size is limited, and reg-
istration is first-come, first-
served. For information call
